July 21 mumsie

So I knew that things would be interesting sooner or later - but Caleb has chosen sooner- of course! I was shaving his stubble this am and he was feigning sleep -- so I removed his mitts which are like mittens ,which I am allowed to do. When I turned my back for a second he yanked off his condom for urinating (I new he would go there first) and then pulled out his IV with a glint in his eye and blood running down his arm, he waved his arms high in the air as if to say "I'm done with those mumsie"! Send in the back-up- it's gonna be hell up here for the duration! For any of you concerned with how I am doing .. It's just not fair - I thought you were expected to lose weight when under stress - I have gained 5 - We are hangin in - That was so nice of the fire dept to hold a car wash... and as always I am blown away by all of the wonderful things all of you do for Caleb on so many levels. I'm taking the day off tomorrow from the computer - so expect a message on Monday. Sending warmth and love from Caleb coupled with mischievous misconduct! Gotta get back to his bedside see what he has done now. Love, mumsie

Being ornery is a good sign. It is a stage of the healing process so while this will be difficult for Mum it is exactly the kind of progress you want to see.

Stay strong and take care of yourself. This will be a long haul. At some point you should go home a rest for a couple of days. There are plenty of folks who will be willing to sit by his side and encourage him. He may even like the change.

Your strength is his strength so you must guard your health. While he is making amazing progress, these things take a lot of time, certainly many months. And once he is home he will need you even more, so you must force yourself to take a rest soon. -Suzanne

Caleb told me once I had big balls after hearing me sing one night. Well Caleb dear to quote AC/DC . . . "You've got the biggest balls of them all!!!!!!!!"

I am quite rude at times but man have I found my match in Caleb. Can't wait to try to out wit him again.

love you all, Settie

Mumsie- get some rest, eat some Wellfleet oysters, hit the spa (be sure to get a mud soak and a massage), pick some flowers from the garden for Caleb's room, tell the Fall Riva lady you have a headache, and have a pint (for Caleb's sake of course).
Caleb is the kind of kid who can sense when your heart is heavy and tired. It's one of the things about him that makes him so special to so many of us. (I know I'm not telling you anything you don't already know)
Give yourself a break- just for a day or two to recharge the batteries.
Love & Prayers,
Karen

i missed the circle last night for the first time i think...was my girl's 22 birthday (mine too then, right all you mums?) i'll be back tonight. as we went around to countless restaurants (for the celebration thing) i was bumming bcz i didn't have my camera...i found indeed i missed MANY flags & posters around fleet & p-town. people everywhere are chattin' about the boy.
funny thing is on friday night (july 20) the circle was quite small for the first while, about 9 people and pretty ruckus energy, super chatty & friday night like. there never really was the "prayer" part we have focused on for the last weeks, so in true supportive form, timmy demonstrated (on the brick walkway so as to not tear up the town hall grass) caleb's jiggy thing so we could all follow suit. interesteing to watch the circle energy change from night to night...it definitly flows.
there is no doubt we are right in sync with caleb's needs.
i can see a hollywood movie...YELLOWBEARD might be down but he can't be beat...watch out johnny depp, this is the REAL deal!!!

Dear Sharyn and all,

You must know that for every one person who posts there must be hundreds of others like us reading along and sending our best wishes, thoughts, and affection. We arrived in Newfoundland in late June but heard about Caleb's accident soon after and have been following his progress with increased pleasure each day. It sounds as if the pirate flag has overtaken the truck tail as The symbol of life in Wellfleet! We'll be back in another month but in the meantime thanks to all of you for allowing us to stay close to you via this Caleb World blog.

Dear Sharyn.....So good to talk with you today! Caleb is so very lucky to have a mumsie like you. Your strength serves him well. If you need to get in touch for any reason my cell is 413-834-8376. Philippe has shared stories about Caleb and his adventures as a very small boy, arriving at their doorstep stark naked. What a special boy he is indeed. Will keep working on supporting his return to health. Warmly, Melinda
