Caleb on the move

Do any of you remember in Middle School when Caleb got mad at his teacher for pulling the buttons off his new shirt I had just given him? He ran outside and had teachers running after him all day and he would hide up in the trees and students would spot him and run to the windows to watch? He snuck through the bushes and got onto the bus at the end of the day like nothing happened! Well - Caleb is on the move today going across the block to Spalding Re- Hab at 11:oo am - so watch out your windows - I am certain you will see a rustle of a bush or a strek you just didn't catch out of the corner of your eye -He is strong today - the pneumonia is easing out of him and he stood up yesterday with help from the PT's. I am feeling very positive about this and have heard that things will and do move rapidly from here on out - perhaps you will be coming into town soon and Caleb will be waitng in ambush behind the cannon- water guns fully loaded and ready to attack!!! He will be there - don't you worry! I will keep you posted as soon as I can get my bearings - I am looking to buy a nurses outfit so I can mingle and get the real scoop- so Keep your mind on recovery - that is the mantra for the month! Love to all of you who take the time to hold uas in their thoughts - the comments on the blog are really what keeps me going in ways you could not understand - I fell like I am held in your hands while you are wearing kid gloves - the expensive ones from Italy ! Love ya Sharyn

Prayers from the Upper Cape. I worked at MCHC back in 89-91 and remember Caleb and his brothers playing at the gallery while mumsie did the gardening. My how time flies. It is amazing the love and support being sent his way. He has certainly touched many lives. I hope to read this blog and see that he has been moved to the Cape real soon. RHCI in Sandwich is a great place for rehab, and his friends could all visit.
Keep it going Wellfleet.

Sharyn,

Thank you for the updates, especially for those of us who are unable to be in Wellfleet right now. I am so proud to know your sons and to consider myself a part of the Wellfleet community (even though they call me a washashore!). Caleb's story is truly inspirational. It makes each of us look inside to find what really matters. Stay strong, keep smiling, and never underestimate the power of prayer.

Great News Go Potter family!

Sharyn that is GREAT news! I am so happy to hear that Caleb's on his way to Spalding- I hear nothing but amazing things about that rehab center. I can't believe he is going there already, he is SO tough. So are you. Man, you could totally rock the hot nurses' outfit...though I think the real thing is a bit more dull than the halloween version, unfortunately. Mike just got out of teaching and is gonna flip when he hears Caleb is on his way to rehab- I'm calling him right now! I love you Sharyn and we are always loving Caleb and praying for him. Caleb makes everyone he's with feel good about themselves, appreciated. He makes life more beautiful and I am so grateful to know him. And all of you. Lots of Love from Eastie, Katie and Mike!

Sharyn, it's been great to read about Caleb's progress. It's easy to see his personality in your descriptions and it makes me realize each time how important Caleb has been in our lives. Please know that Carrie and Neil are thinking about you all throughout each day (and that I would have posted this earlier if I had any technological ability at all).

There it was again ...more good news about Caleb! And I know that it will just keep on coming. Spaulding is a great rehab center and it is so good to learn that Caleb has "graduated " from MGH in such a short time. I am all smiles at the thought ! Faith moves mountains. Sharyn, thank you so much for sharing and keeping us up to date, and take care. Gail

Dear Sharyn, I have finally figured out how to enter into this world of blogging! Yikes. What a wonderful way to send you our thoughts and our love, although I mostly prefer the direct heart-to-heart route, which I know you know is always buzzin'!!! What wonderful news continues to flow from Caleb's bedside -- and now into rehab! for most of us, these two weeks have seemed like a year or more, but his miraculous progress toward recovery is truly a testament to both Caleb's resilience and strength and also to the power of love and intention flying his way. You, too, dear one, are held in our circle each day. May you find renewed energy and strength with each new sun and may you sleep in peace under the stars each night. We love you; I love you! Anne

sharyn,
i don't think you will know who i am, or if we were ever introduced, but i know you. i know you as caleb potter's mom.

five summers ago, i lived in eastham with a friend and worked at chad's restaurant (the juice). i remember caleb stopping in throughout the day with a burst of energy and excitement, sure to spout off something unexpected. and i remember nights after work, outside the juice with an after-work-style juice in hand, and caleb potter back again with no less energy than he'd been fueled with during the day. and on one occasion, i remember caleb's mom cruising by in a truck, thowing eggs at her son and company, then laughing loudly as she cruised off into the summer night. potter mother and son were a vibrant piece of my fond memories from that summer on the cape.

thank you for your blog, it has been truly inspirational. you are both in my thoughts and prayers.

I don't know Caleb. But I'm getting to know him now. And can't wait to meet him when he comes home! Thank you for sharing about his condition and, almost more importantly, about who he is. I feel like I'm at a baseball game, and my favorite player is on first base, getting ready to move to second. Sounds like he's the type to steal third AND home. go...Go...GO, Caleb!

May each day be a better one!

Sharyn, I'm in California but my mom has been keeping me updated, and I want you to know that lots of people out here, and friends of mine from the Cape scattered all over, are all checking in with each other about Caleb and wanting to know how he's doing. He's in our prayers and receiving good energy, even from all the way over here, even from people who haven't seen him in a while. All best, and all, my love,
Casey

I went to school with Caleb, and always liked him, although we never ran with the same crowds. I laughed when I read the story about him running away from Nauset Middle School, as this is my very first memory of Caleb. I remember going home and telling my mother that a boy from Wellfleet ran way and climbed a tree during school. I remmeber my mother saying, "Wellfleet people are different, in a good way." Caleb certainly seemed to have a fiery spirit then, and it is clear that that spirit continues as he recovers. I live in Boston now and walk past MGH nearly every day, and always say a prayer for Caleb as I walk. It's clear that Wellfleet people are definitely still different in a good way.

shayrn, wait till you see the vanderschmidt's fence @ the dump!!!
WOW...what a treat to happen upon the "graffiti mural" with dakota this morning. HUGE smiles were plastered across our faces. dakota got out & took a pic w/ his cell phone so he could show his brewster buds how cool wellfleet it. we brought our out of town family by after it was closed & made them get out in the rain to walk through the gate to see it.
thank you (whoever you are) for leaving such a colorful (and acurate) image of "our boy" at a place in town where i always think of him. seems the potter boys are at the dump more often than not whenever i go. amnesty day is always a guarantee. a trip to the wellfleet dump has always been fun, now it's all the more special!
dakota has been to the prayer circle with me many times this week. his cousin of the same age (12) came tonight. they were being rough & tumble & i thought of how caleb would not only have encouraged it but insisted.
it's been a wonderful experience to be there with my own boy praying for yours (all of them & you too momma).
love you always, xoxo deirdre

Sharyn,
I bet I'm not the only one who can't wait to read these blogs every day. We in Town are so lucky to have you and Caleb to care about in our lives. Go Caleb! Go Sharyn! Heal on!! arlene k

Sharyn,

You hottshit! While sporting your little nurse's getup make sure you wear your white stockings! I do think you will need a custom made wenches/nurse suit though.

I am so awe inspired by Lebster's progress! I know for sure though that he is that much more ready to heal with the patience, love, and strength you and all the rest of his family give him, while being at his side! Not to mention all the people praying for him ALL over the world!
Caleb really needs to write a book on his life, he is literally one of my most favorite people in the world, I think for A LOT of others too. His life is so full of magic, laughter, adventure, and miracles!
Please do me a favor, and pick your brain for some of Caleb's favorite songs, I would really like to mail him a cd, and share it with all of Fleet.
Miss you all..XO Clance
