out of surgery
God bless you all! Caleb is out of surgery and lookin great! His plastic surgeon pulled the sagging left side up a bit ( wish they could have done a two for the price of one) and he is resting. He has lost the sight in his left eye but we have to remember that he is the greatest modern day pirate and along with that he must have the look! Now the real work of bringing him up to full speed at full tilt begins - so go join Jodi at Mayo beach and celebrate the great, wondrous spirit of Caleb Potter! I love you. Mum

I am blind in one eye and it's all the better to see you with!!!! What horendous good news. Must of checked the blog six or eight times today. It was getting late in the day and I know everyone was waiting to hear. I'm sure it was all the serious laughs last night that did the job, maybe a few prayers today as well. Hope your are resting easier Mumsie, and Caleb, you go pirate!
Dear Sharyn, I'm like many others, checking the blog all day. It's a great relief to hear that this surgery is over. One-eyed Bill will prevail! The gathering last night was wonderful and the laughter contagious. The singing was really beautiful. The whole town stands with Caleb and with you, Jan, Kai and Max. All our love to you.
captain jack sparrow has some serious competition now...thanks as always for the daily updates. hugs and kisses!
Sending our thoughts from far away for continued good news...
Man o' mighty..
Caleb is after all made to be a billy eyed pirate. Destiny unfolds...I have been off & on the computer ALL day, back and forth to my alter, Chema and I lit candles that are still lit, made a call to Guatemala to ask his grandmother to get together with her healing/prayer group to send prayers on the wind.. What a relief this all is! It is rough to lose sight, but Caleb will work through it the way he always does with everything that comes across his path~ casually, and happily, all the while using his motto "Just deal!"
Matt (my brother) and I rented YELLOWBEARD and I got that giddy excited way we all used when we watched it on a regular basis: Caleb & Cedar would yelp when one would just que it up in the VCR! All the grand memories hit me, and my stomache got that hard achey way from laughing, as I recited some phrases here & there..Caleb, I love you dearly my bill..thank you for making us all a bit more grateful; and aware~ and Sharyn HUGE props to you for making us giggle, and for keeping us updated! I love you all!! XO..
Sharyn, Jan, Caleb et al: I just found out, Peggy Called me. This is taking the Diehard thing to an extreme level. My (our) prayers are with you all Glenn McKenzie, (Diehard Dingmaster classs of 1969)
I hesitate to intrude on your privacy as only a "non resident tax payer" but I feel more connected to Wellfleet than to my own hometown. We have been visiting since 1980. I am the parent of three young adults in their twenties and can relate to the intense emotion of never ending parenthood. Hard as it can be I wouldn't have it any other way. My husband lost the sight in one of his eyes a few years ago and it really isn't that big a problem. Our positive thoughts and prayers are with you constantly. Yesterday I took a walk from Lacount to White Crest and on the return trip I was using the American flags as my markers. Well, when I got back to my beach chair I was obviously upset because the flag was all of a sudden at half mast...not to worry...two minutes later the flag was risen again but now a pirate flag was flying high also. Love to all, Cathy
One eyed pirates are just fine, you get to wear a patch with no excuses. I've been blind in one eye all my life, and get along just fine. Good Luck, Caleb - we are all cheering for you. God bless you and all the family. XXXXXOOOOO Natale
Dear Sharyn,
I have known a few people who have lost their vision in one eye and although it is a bit of an inconvenience at first they seem to adjust pretty quickly. My friend Kate's father -who is now in his 80's- lost his eye in an accident when he was six (i believe it involved a pointed stick and a brother). It didn't seem to slow 'Dewey' down very much. A notorious character, he farmed in Northern Alberta for many years and still spends part of every year there, chasing barn cats around with a butterfly net and neutering them on the spot. If you are 80 something and still able to catch wild cats and neuter them with the flip of a wrist...well I guess you still have pretty good vision. No worries. With this behind him Caleb can recover his strength and begin to work on his other challenges. -Suzanne
I am so happy to be able to hear of Caleb's Progress although I really don't know him well I did work with Jen at the Gennythios past winter so I feel connected - we would like to organize a benefit for Caleb at "laura & Tony's Kitchen" where we would donate a portion of the proceeds how do we go bout doing that and when would be a good day- I know there are many benefits going on and we would not want to compete- you go pirate!!! Sincerely Laura Fish
Caleb has prayers coming from all over this nation. We here in Pa. have been checking the blogs daily and have been with you all in prayer. Wish we were there in Wellfleet to be part of the prayer circles, but, we are there in spirit. We have never met Caleb, but he has touched our lives. Great news that he is doing so well.We will continue our support "from afar" God Bless
Bob and Lisa
Somehow I do not think that Caleb will mind only having one eye --
Seems to me the way everyone is talking about him he will make some cooky jokes and go on - after all true pirates only have 1 eye.
Prayers for courage, strength, and healing winging its way to Celeb from Co.Wicklow, Ireland
Well, he may have lost sight in one eye, but being the true pirate that he is (even more now!), he has not lost his vision or his focus! Hugs to all!
Cathie
