Update from Mumsie!!

-When the Potter boys were little, the only stuffed animal that they managed to love, because they were to busy playing in the trees, was a little blue dragon, named Puff. When wound up, Puff playes the theme song from Puff the Magic Dragon. Several times I have tried to pitch Puff in the garbage can because he started looking like a big germ. The managed some how to always rescue him and now he is a permenant resident in Caleb's hospital room. Jennie wound him up, put him next to Caleb's head and asked him if he would kiss Puff.....and he did.
-Today, Caleb's drainage line from his spinal fluid will be removed, one less thing to annoy him. And the wires in his jaw will be removed not this wednesday but the following. Also on that day they will repair the bones around the left eye socket.
-We are trying to teach him to meditate when he gets aggravated....this will be a stretch for Caleb, but he lasted for a good 5 minutes before twitching anything. This is a great start.
-The family continues to thank you for all of the support, please send comments because that is what keeps me going.
--Ps:I got more kisses from Caleb today. He is such a sweetheart and I can not wait to see those bright blue eyes again!!!-jennie

Sharyn,
It's wonderful to hear about Caleb's amazing progress and equally wonderful to hear your strong, amused voice coming through in your blog entries. Chris and the girls and I have been thinking about all of you constantly—doing what we can to help from Orleans. Thanks for posting...it's such a generous gift from you to everyone who is thinking about you guys.

Hello from Canada,
This is Shannon's (Cavanaugh) and Haley's Mom. It is very good news to hear that Caleb is doing so well so soon after his accident. From what I understand, with this type of traumatic head injury the first year is when you make the most progress. The fact that he is doing this well already is a very good sign indeed. Wellfleet is such a wonderful place. There is great comfort in knowing that he has a whole town waiting for him and who will support him in his recovery. I look forward to seeing him back in the parade next Fourth of July.

On my way to work my heart and mind are with you all in Boston and I turned on the radio to womr and there was pirate music, surfing music and songs about friendship playing - dedicated to you all. How endless the blessings of a community who joins together with love and respect....We are here sending love and light. Meditating on the ocean... Love to all , Ann

Sharyn, I just picked up Jean and Brailsford in Provincetown on their return from BA. The first thing they said was, 'How's Caleb." They were able to gt to the blog from there but missed your good post today. My ten year old grandson asked for the URL so he could keep up at home-he was here on the fourth and very upset about Caleb. When we go to the Market to get the mail Jane always insists on going over to Town Hall lawn (I think to see remembrances-she's behaved in every other way.Best to Caleb and you, to Kai, Max and Jan. jack smith

What a relief to read the good reports of yesterday and today. Georgie and I are so grateful for the news and rejoice for you all.
Whoever thought the sight of pirate flags all over our little town would be inspiring and exilirating.
Love from us both,
Mac

Sharyn,

My prayers are with you and the boys. I meditate everyday with remembering Caleb's first breath on his birthday, his deep, ocean blue eyes and his vigorous curiosity to start life. Please give him a huge hug from his Godmother.

Hey, I heard about Caleb's accident on one of the surfing forums this morning. His story right off caught my eye (and my heart!) as I also have a pirate son named Caleb, just a couple years older than yours. We'll be praying for your son, family and friends and following along with his recovery and restoration to good health.

It is no wonder our little town has banded together for someone as positive, genuine, honest, caring and strong willed as Caleb.

Caleb- It should come as no surprise to you that all the world and this Wellfleet family has wrapped its arms around you and is holding you in their hearts. Know that you have earned this love and outpouring of emotions and support because you have given each and every one of us a piece of you at one time or another. You are truly the best friend a person could have, and I thank you for what you did for my brother in his time of need. I am honored to know you and hold you in my heart and in my prayers all day, every day- Stay strong, and come home soon.

-Chris' big Sis- Karen

Sharyn, Max, Kai, & certainly not least, Jennie-

I just want to cry when I hear that Caleb is responding and doing so well. We are continuing to pray for Caleb out here, with people from my church, and I just love you guys so much. I think about you often and I wish I could be there to lend a hand or help in some way. Stay strong, you are the reason Caleb is the amazing person he is, and you will carry him through this. Praying for strength, grace, and a complete healing.
MUCH love,
Anna (Henning)

Hi Sharyn, I'm one of the early morning Willy's workout crowd. I have been fond of Caleb for years, but didn't know that you were his mom! I've been following his progress on the blog, thank you!!! and praying every day for him and for you and the rest of the family. He's an amazing person and I have so much hope that he is will be healed and even stronger. Clearly his spirit is touching this whole community and making us stronger. I feel humbled in the face of so much love. Elizabeth

Hello to all of you out there from mumsie land! Caleb as of last eve was moved out of surgical intensive to reg. intensive to where all the young nurses are - what power that kid has! I will tell you that the energy from all of you flows up here in buckets and Caleb's rapid healing has everything to do with his spirit combined with your energy. He has a bit of pneumonia setting in - but a change in anti's will fix that rapidly. Last evening after Kai, Max , Jan and Sara visited and Caleb had time to rest - I held his hand and I was able to really connect with him through the eyes and through hand squeezing - he is really all there and just waiting to burst out once again-- this confinement is really hard on Caleb - he could not even sit still in kindergarten class -- so your prayers if you choose to direct them need to go towards rest, healing of the left eye ( I have a Reiki master coming to his room now) and for his lungs to clear. I cannot tell you all how very much this means to me - Caleb has always been the kind of kid to take a bit of extra time to listen. to take a second extra to smile - to hug just a bit harder -- so that is what I wish for all of us to do - life is sooo precious - kiss alot of people today for me and for him.. Love, mumsie.
