On the fourth of July, 2007 Caleb Potter was involved in a skateboarding accident.
He suffered serious injuries and continues to need all of our positive thoughts and prayers.
This blog is to serve as a space for updates on Caleb's journey of recovery.

Another good day!!

So Sharyn is letting me update everyone on the blog today, because I have come up to visit with Caleb, so do not freak out when you do not see a blog from her today. I arrived yesterday afternoon, and Caleb was sitting up in a chair wide awake when I walked in. That first impression was so exciting for me, because I have not seen him like that in like a month. I gave him a pad of paper to respond to me if he wanted to communicate. I told him I loved him over and over and then he wrote..."I love you back". I will carry that little piece of paper with me in my wallet everyday, so that I can look at it whenever I'm missing him. He really enjoys having a pen in is hand and it makes me so happy to see him doing something he loves. On September 17th, Caleb drew a picture of his accident and he wrote his name next to it and the doctors are very happy about that.
As you all know, Caleb is eating and doing such a good job at it. On the menu last night was puree chicken, mashed potatoes, apple sauce and gravy. I have to say, after not eating all day because I hate leaving Caleb when I am here, that food looked really delicious. He is swallowing really well and he is gaining weight back. Yesterday he was weighed, and Sharyn and I were so jealous that he weighed less than us. haha....He weighs 129 lbs now and that is very encouraging because he has gained 5 lbs in the last week and a half.
Eventhough Caleb is learning how to eat again and trying to talk, he is still in the ICU and not out of the clear. Which means, that no one except family can visit him. I wish i could write more, but Caleb is getting antsy and Sharyn has to go get him some eggs, so I have to watch him. He tends to like to pull the drain in his brain out, but we are very watchful so he has not succeeded.
thank u for all your prayers because caleb is getting better day by day. we love u all. and so does caleb...

jennie i've been sending you so much love...thinking about how hard it is having your lover away for so long.
so happy to read your post today it made me cry.

i'm contemplating how we can do something for caleb at the fest. it's been rolling around my brain longer than the recent posting...just LOTS of details to attend to before the fest! it's on the list!!!
shaye will be having a booth for caleb but we might be able to do something else as well. the board needs to confere.
i also thought it'd be helpful to address caleb's issue when sending out "set up details" for all of the vendors (not everyone is local). i just KNOW that once folks arrive they'll all be wondering about this beautiful man caleb that we're asking for prayers for....and i don't want to have to address it seperately w/ each person!!!
i think maybe we should move the altar over to the cannon since it's NOT going anyywhere!?*#!
tell caleb i love him...(so bold)
as always...prayin prayin prayin & grateful for y'alls inspiration!

Hi Jennie,
It is nice to hear from you and nice to know that Mumsie is letting others help carry the mantle. Does the plug in Caleb's brain hurt? Is that why he likes to try and pull it out?

What a beautiful day. I hope you and Caleb enjoy your time together.

Namaste.

Hi Jennie,

Thank God we have a new writer! We where all getting so tired of the last one! Great news in a great post! I hope you worked out a good work arrangement. Lots of benefits and breaks etc….

So wonderful that Caleb is eating and gaining weight! Is he ready for oysters on the half shell yet? I know where we can get some! How’s Sharyn’s weight problem? Can she still fit down the hospital hallways OK? Don’t let her get too bored…

Thanks so much for your celebrity appearance and all the good news!

Jennie, It is so nice to hear from you. I've been wondering how you were doing. I am with Caleb about the tube coming out of the head thing. I wouldn't want one of those either! But now he is writing love notes! What a guy!

Hi Jennie,
This is also from someone you don't know, from out in the hinterlands.A great post, thanks for the update.
Good to hear Caleb is sitting up and chowing down and Sharyn is getting a keyboard break. I had to chuckle, I always had a different image for the phrase "brain drain". Caleb has changed that.

Nice to hear from you Jennie....you should be writing more, and don't let Sharyn be such a hog! :) I can feel it in the air that things are looking up for our lad. As for the Brain Drain, I think I would be concerned about anything tryin' to drain my brain!! Glad to hear that caleb is as artistic as ever....can you all maybe post some photos of some of his writings and drawings for us to see? just a thought. .....stay strong there sister. Love, amy stj

Jennie and Caleb- So sweet to hear the love story continues...I think of you both often - sending light and love.
What is the point of moving the altar besides saving grass ? That portion of the lawn can be resown next spring. Honoring this site reflects the spirit of authentic giving/caring/loving that is missing in this world. Lets do what we can to spread the message rather thasn retreat to conforming /fear based behavior. ann m.

Hey Jennie and the other MGH family.... Its WONDERFUL to know that caleb's art skills are still in tact. Our collection of his art needs growth and he promised me a picture for my birthday, better late than never. He isn't the only one who loves you, Jennie! We are so glad Caleb found you and remember vividly the way he talked about his "new girlfriend, Jennie." It seems like only last month he was traveling off-Cape to see you. And as we all know, getting Caleb out of WELLFLEET is hard enough! We are blessed to have you in our lives, and you definitly have a dinner date with us to fulfill! Extra special love to caleb and his strength! We are still thinking of you every moment! Be well and Jah Bless....

Jennie,
Again, I am Just a Stranger who visited Wellfleet this Summer and felt Drawn to Caleb and your Community of Caring family and friends. Caleb Reminds me of my boys and I swear we have a paralel community here.

Last night my youngest son stopped over to say hi......my boyfriend told him "your moms upstairs in her office with Caleb Potter" "oh how is he doing?" my son says. "Ask your mom she keeps up to the minute....but I know as of the car ride home from work last night, that he threw up several times yesterday, but he is on the upswing"

......needless to say they pick on me a bit....

my son came upstairs to hang out, after looking at the blogg he suggested you sign up for adsense its also from google. It will add adverstisements at the top of the blogg, but you will get paid, deposited to your bank account everytime people check in.
No one who comes to this blogg would mind having add banners.especially since the little revunue that would be generated would benifit Caleb and his family.
My son noted that on average 1000 people visit this site each day.
I would normaly not advocate for something like that, but as my son said,Why not! its another way we blogg visitors can help.
Thanks for your guest blogging
my clan here in the Berkshires holds you in thought and prayer.
be well and smile pretty,
PS I found adsense by Googling get paid to blogg.

Caleb- are you ready for treats yet? If so, I recommend a Black & White frappe from Brigham's. I'm pretty sure it'll "cure whatever ails ya", but at the very least it will surely make you happy!
(it's the best frappe in the world in my not-so-humble opinion)
There's a Brigham's on High Street, kinda near Post Office Square.
have fun drawing!

Thank you Jennie for taking time to let us into your private life. It is so sweet to almost HEAR your words and imagine the scene there. I saw Jan today at The Flying Fish and it was a relief to see his face as he talked about Caleb's progress. You can really tell by looking into someone's eyes as they describe something how things REALLY are. And that being said I feel relieved.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body; but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

XOXO,settie

COME LET GO... i guess that is why i visit this sanctuary of a blog daily, to enter a world of love and peace, and share with all of you the power of prayer, struggle and triumph... i take pieces of everyones hearts & words, Mumsie's & Jan's strength, the oneness of Caleb, Kai & Max, and make them my own mantra... I read todays blog and reflected upon the journey we all have been on, strangers, family, friends, cities and countries afar while listening to a song called "Come Let Go" by xavier rudd... it was meant to be playing as my mind wandered...

you can hear it at www.virb.com/xavierrudd - listen to the words while you read each others, and man we can all let go and come to this sanctuary of ONENESS...

What Swell Will You Bring

jennie, glad to hear you are there with leb.thanx for giving sharyn a little break, she has earned it.she has been there for all of us, now and in the past.your post has finally made me feel that we are on "the uphill battle".one more path for our pirate to navigate.we will all be on the same road, together.sharyn,i,me,and we luv you up!
caleb,if you ever get down think about the time i peed on the front of my pants and kai made me wear a garbage bag diaper.i know you are jealous now,but soon you will be laughing in my face.if that doesn,t help remember the first time kai had lizzie over for dinner and everyone made me gag myself with ducttape.i ate all dinner with a tape catching mouthpieces of food all night til it disgusted everyone.(except max)jen, sharyn, and most of all caleb,i miss you all terribly and hope to see all of you together again.luv,luv,luv.

Hi Again,
So Sharyn, I had to comment again...I was just watching the "Lion King" with Caleb, and there was a character on there that was constantly making me laugh because everytime that I saw him, I thought of you. RAFIKI..The crazy Baboon!!! Hahahaha...That sounded bad, huh? Hehehe! He doesn't remind me of you because he is a nutty Baboon, he reminds me of you because he is the outgoing-spiritual-caring and NUTTY one that went out of his way to save the King(Caleb)..LOL ;) I don't know if you have ever seen the Lion King before. Maybe when the boys were little??!?!? But, Rafiki is the funniest character in the movie. Always bouncing around, singing or making noises and making funny gestures while trying to teach important life lessons.

Well, anyway...Hope that you enjoyed my rambling,LOL :)

Love Ya, and hope to see you soon!

~Nicole

SO, HE GETS SHAKEN DAILY FOR YOU - SENDING POSITIVE ENERGY TO YOU.....KEEP UP THE FORWARD PROGRESS. WE ALL KNOW YOU CAN DO IT....LOVE AND HUGS, NATALE

Thank you for the post. I am so glad Caleb is improving every day. You do not know me but I have been following the blog ever since I returned from my vacation in Wellfleet in July.

Say hi to Mumsie.

Great news today!
For the Festival (can't wait) may I suggest a photo collage for others to see who Caleb is? Also, selling pirate patches and flags would probably be a big hit. Maybe "Prayers for Caleb" ribbons.

Sending more prayers your way.
