On the fourth of July, 2007 Caleb Potter was involved in a skateboarding accident.
He suffered serious injuries and continues to need all of our positive thoughts and prayers.

Tube top

Hello out there - please first I want to say thanks to all of you who walk me through the walk to make me smile again...Kevin, laughter is the best medicine and it is what you and have in common, plus our cup size.
Caleb's G tube on the top of his stomach comes out this morn which is why I am here so early. This makes him for the first time since the 4th of July - totally tube-less!!!!!! With Jen's update you are able to see how well he is coming along. He still gets confused and irrational at times, has great difficulty with speech, but as we speak, he is sitting in his chair, reading the morning paper, and waiting for the Doc..
We are comfortable here and love all of our nurses - and I feel our Doc is top notch so don't worry about us.
Caleb is bored with his routine and has his schedule down, so now and I am opening up parts of the week for visiting. You will need to call me first. As you know his popularity
could really be a problem with all of you rushing up - so get in contact with Kai, get my cell and get on a list!
I have a new zebra bad ass handbag, Lisse and co-workers sent me the best care package a girl could want ( you guess), Caleb is looking and acting sharp and life at Spaulding is only getting better. Gotta run - things to do! Love, Mumsie

Ahhh, Mumsie is back! Sharyn, there's nothin' better than a new zebra bag filled with treasures to lift one's spirits. Happy thoughts to you today and it's time I send along that Yahtzee game...and maybe a few others to help pass the time. Love the image of Caleb reading the paper waiting for the Doc, so perfect. Is he a Red Sox fan??? That should help keep him busy over the next couple of weeks...(we hope, anyway)

Rock on-
Audrey

I have a friend who was at Spaulding. He improved so much. He now is at Crotched Mountain and continues to improve. I am so happy to hear about Caleb's progress. I don't know Caleb but my family goes to Wellfleet every summer and I was deeply effected by the out poor of support for Caleb. I have been reading your blog daily since you started writing. My thoughts are with you and your family. It's a long road but you are all so strong and can make it through anything.

Hi Sharyn, Caleb and all! You go nurses! Docs!
So...did the goody bag include batteries???
Good to see progress, boredom can be a great thing! restorative. I got my friend hooked on the blog long ago... she said it was enough she had HER kids to worry about, she had Caleb, too! Now she can relax a little..
We still rally around Caleb!

Sharyn,

Great to hear the happiness in your voice. The fact that Caleb is reading is a wonderful sign that despite his struggles with speech, his mind is working fine. I also wondered if he was a Sox fan. Hope so, as that will give him some joy.

Yay! Yay for no tubes!

I'm sure Caleb will be thrilled to have all his many friends and loved ones come see him. Spaulding won't know what to do with all that wonderful energy.

Keep sparkling, lovely Potters!

Love,

What wonderful news for your family and friends...Sharyn you are a true inpsiration as a mom and Caleb story has helped our family keep many small annoying things in perspective...may the Red Sox go all the way...may each day become a little more boring for Caleb...bordem is a sign the mind knows theres more do to than what's going on at that moment...like being at home with friends and family and may each day bring you closer to your destination WELLFLEET...there is truly light at the end of this very long winding tunnel and that light is beaming brightly from all of your supporters who can't wait for you to come home...we anonymous bloggers will have to wait and visit you in Wellfleet the next time we are passing through...peace

Sharyn,

Let's get something straight right now! My cup is regulr black and your cup is half decaf-half regular. We don't have that in common! Well speaking of cups was there something on your mind today with the title of your post as "Tube top?" Is it time for you and Caleb to review "My things to do when bored" now that Caleb is also getting bored? The Full Moon just passed...unless that was you and Caleb shining so bright on the Charles River in Boston! You guys are a great team! Teamwork is everything...

FYI- Batteries are half off at the Liquor Store this week.... Everything else is all the way off, especially if I drink any more of that Dewar's bottle again....

Well my words of advise for you today are " Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story!"

Kevin

Yay! I just checked the blog before I head to the airport. I am going to LA for my sisters baby shower. I will have a much better trip knowing Leb is Tube free, reading the paper, and doing well and that you are in better spirits.
Love and miss you.

Maybe it's NOT such great news that he's reading the paper.
It's so depressing.
He'll see not much has changed since he last read it.
Ground hog day!

I have a head cold. I find I am a little more confused and slower than usual. I tried to open the door to my house by clicking my automatic car door opener, I put the coffee pot in the refrigerator and I went to work with my skirt on inside out. I am not senile. I am just having a bad day because I am a bit under the weather. Caleb is going to be a bit under the weather from time to time too but so far he has been a miracle worker and he has more miracles for you yet...of this I am sure. Suzanne

Glad to hear you in better spirits, Sharyn. I wish you would eat some danky soup too, but its the mother in you making sure your son always has the best! Speaking of the best, I hope this day is making Caleb happier and healthier. It is also our dear Lily's 21st birthday. She'll be home in a week and a Bombie gathering is much needed. All the little kids aren't so little anymore. Am I getting older too??? Hahahaha, of corse not! Seventeen for life! I love you so much and hope your day with my guys is comforting and special for you too. Hugs Sharyn!

My heart is just bursting with joy. You know, everytime I got a message from my mom this summer my stomach would do this wiggly nervous thing because I would never know what was going on in the world of Caleb and Wellfleet. Today I am jumping with joy and smiling ear to ear...there might even be a few tears of happiness. I am so happy that the wonderful Potter/Lindsay fam is on the ups...as I am sure is true of every person who is even remotely aware of Mr. Caleb Potter.

BIG BIG LOVE,
ALita:)

Hi Sharyn,
If Caleb continues to have a difficult time mastering his speech there is a doctor (in Brookline, I think) who does singing therapy to help regain speech-if you are interested in finding out more about this-just post and I will find out the particulars...to continued progress...Amanda

Caleb, congratulations on becoming tubeless. Given what you've been through in just a few weeks it it absolutely amazing.

Sharyn, your words sound upbeat and that is great too.

Good that Caleb is bored, Rehabs likes to do that to people so they want to leave sooner, though I doubt there is any lack of motivation her.

We in the virtual bleachers continue to root for you!

CONGRATULATIONS CALEB!!!

you made it!!!!

it has been 3 months TO THE DAY, and mumsie von writes...
"he is sitting in his chair, reading the morning paper, and waiting for the Doc.."
sweetness & light indeed.
you have come so far...my heart is full of joy.

i am so happy to see the words of my beloved daughter alita on this page. after your accident i remember her saying with a gentle and contemplative smile, "caleb...we're friends just for the sake of being friends".
she was not in your tight circle but that never stopped you from ALWAYS inquiring about her whenever i would see you around...
you got me then my friend. now i know you did it with everyone...it is just your way & the reason that 3 months later your love has spread around the world.
keep up the great work.

sharyn...how do you know kevin's cup size?

Hello My Dear Sharyn,
Great to hear that YOU are doing well, and amazing to hear of the Lad's progress, as always. :)

I have been in Lowell for a few days now, and haven't really been able to check the blog, so i was exited to read it today. Beautiful day, huh? Hope that the weather in Boston is as well as here(Lowell is only about 20 min. North, so I'm sure that it is...hehehe)

Talk to you soon, Deary.....

Love, hugs, and Kisses from the Miner Clan in the BIG CITY!

PS> Boston must be such a change for you...When we are off Cape, we feel so out of place sometimes.

Hi Sharyn & clan,
Glad to hear everyone is doing great. Just wondering if Caleb is ready for some chocolate yet??

Gearing up for the OysterFest, so I have plenty to spare to help him pack on a few pounds.

Just give the word & I will send a truck load up with Jan.

Wishing you all well,
Love Jade
