On the fourth of July, 2007 Caleb Potter was involved in a skateboarding accident.
He suffered serious injuries and continues to need all of our positive thoughts and prayers.
This blog is to serve as a space for updates on Caleb's journey of recovery.

We have been born into a mystery from day one. So no point in being afraid.....just breathe it in and go with it.

The loveliest gift that my mother gave to me was to tell me that I was her toughest child - ---but that she had learned the most from me. That has stayed with me forever... the simple truth ( tho it was painful at the time) that has carried me through and has given me the courage to forge forward. Honesty has become so underrated ... learn to be impeccable with your word.

I have been bestowed with the great honor of being granted the opportunity to be a mother. It has given me enormous satisfaction as I walk this walk. Motherhood is the life force that I inhale and exhale. It is my weakness when I lift my face up, and my strength when I find myself face down.
.

My sons placed their trust in me - but is my trust in them that pulls me forward.

So put your hand in mine and walk with me, not knowing what to expect and not expecting to see our way ...
because life is a delicious mystery from day one. So do not be afraid ...just breathe in and go with me....

Happy mother's day to all of you who walk.

Happy mothers day to all of you mothers and fathers out there.

I miss my mother and think of her every day. Today I honor her memory, and thank her for watching over me....she was fiercely protective, absurdly funny and had a smile that could light up the world, and so smart, there was never a question she could not answer..... I am ever proud to be my mother's daughter.
Happy Mother's Day, Sharyn.....your boys are as lucky to have you as you are to have them.
As always, with hope,

Sharyn,

It was your words,as a mother, that first drew me in here to this magical cyber world of love and caring.
I felt I knew who you were through the fierce love and abandon you experienced life as a mother (mumsie).
The way you described your pain, your joy, your wonder...at everystep along Caleb's journey....I felt we were one - and there are many of us here on this blog who share that raw awakening when we give birth to these amazing little people....
You have had a year that tested you and your now very amazing young men beyond any "normal" boundaries.
Your Mother's Day words touch me right where they did at first, soon to be a year ago.
There is no love nor feeling that can fully describe the love we feel for our children, OR, the things they teach us about ourselves, once they arrive.
We become new people after we give birth, and raising these most precious children is a truly a gift.
It is not always easy, often a real struggle, but we love and learn and grow through it all.
I wish you and and all the moms here today a very Happy Mother's Day. We have been greatly blessed and we are even more blessed, for realizing it!!

Hugs to all moms, dads and children today!

I lost my own Mom before I had my children and I will think of her today, as I do everyday, and feel sure that she is smiling down on all of us and her 3 grandchildren and walks with us always.

Enjoy the day everyone.

Beautifully put Sharyn. We do all traverse a path, sometimes it's smooth sailing, others times rough water appears to be the order of business, sometimes a little of both. The smooth sailing brings us gratitude, the rough, clearer definition of strength and will, and both, a welcomed sigh....the balance we crave.

My mom died last January at the age of 93, and our past was difficult at best. I too had been her "difficult" child, always questioning her, and making her so angry. She also had been physically abusive, so there was part of me that truly dispised that part of her....I was able to spend three weeks with her prior to her death, and all the pain and suffering was "washed away". It' s as if I was able see through all the pain that had come from all the expereinces, and forgive her and myself for all the negativity that had been sowed as a result of those occurances. We, in essence made peace in those three weeks, and today I cherish that time together, and am grateful for her life, what I learned, how I have grown. She taught me soo much.

Feliz dia de las Madres, mi amiga!

Con todo Carino,

Melinda y MariElena

From one mumsie to another and to all the grandmas and fathers that are "motherfathers"--a toast. Of all the hats I have worn in my lifetime, nothing has brought more joy than the motherhood hat(which is many hats, too)--Sharyn, you have showed the world a good example of mumsiehood---and it has ups and downs and curves and barbs--lots of altibajos--but nothing is sweeter.

Happy Mother's Day, Sharyn! Sven gets to talk to you from time to time, but I have not. I do, however, think of you often and enjoy your blog. Please stop by some time to see the renovations in my mother's house. Perhaps Caleb would be interested to see, too? XOXO

Mornin' Sharyn,
Password problems solved, I'm back
to join your mother's day commenters.
Weren't we lucky to have such a gorgeous May day? Driving inland on 495 yesterday to visit my own sweet Mom in Worcester, it felt like driving into our future (later) Spring. I was mesmerized with all of the colors in the trees and shrubs, and with actual open tree leaves in SO many shades of greens! Moms, sisters, kids, nieces...men cooking...for the bounty of our blessings we give thanks!

Sharyn,

I think of you and the boys often. Thank you for taking the time to share and help others while you are helping your family.

Here's a quote from Henry Ford, The Power of Positive Thinking....

"If you think you can do a thing or think you can't do a thing, you're right." Henry Ford

Your positive attitude is such an inspiration! Happy Mother's Day.

Thank you,
marcia

As I walked out yesterday afternoon to retrieve my mail, my heart literally skipped a beat as I observed what looked like a baby gorilla in the trees. Of course I'd heard many Potter stories, one of them including a gorilla, but I still made my way warily to get a closer look. Thank you guys, you've brought a smile to a sad neighborhood.
