On the fourth of July, 2007 Caleb Potter was involved in a skateboarding accident.
He suffered serious injuries and continues to need all of our positive thoughts and prayers.
This blog is to serve as a space for updates on Caleb's journey of recovery.

Girlfriend Update--Start Praying again...

I am so sorry to report this, but we have had a set-back. This past Wednesday, Caleb had to be brought to Cape Cod Hospital, because he was having severe stomach pain at the site of the incision in his stomach. When he had the shunt put in, the valve went from his brain to his stomach, where the extra spinal fluid would drain into, and this is where caleb was having pain. Sharyn brought Caleb to the hospital and he had a fever and his white blood cell count was high, which means his body is fighting an infection. They withdrew some spinal fluid from Caleb and they discovered that he has bacterial meningitis again.
He was then brought to Mass General Hospital, so they could figure out where the infection started. They then discovered that the infection started somewhere within the shunt, and the infection traveled to his brain. This morning, Caleb's shunt was removed. The Infectious Disease doctors are looking at the cultures of the bacterial that were found in Caleb'ss CSF ( Central Spinal Fluid), and when they figure out the specific strain that he does have, they will then know what specific medication to give him. Last time he had bacterial meningitis, the medication took 3 weeks to go through its cycle of healing, so we think that Caleb will be in the hospital for a little while again to heal from this.
I will give updates about Caleb's condition when I hear new information. Right now, he just got out of his surgery to remove his shunt and he is recovering with his mother by his side. Mass General Hospital has become a second home to Caleb and his family, and we are on the floor that we have visited with Caleb many times before. The doctors and nurses there are amazing and so caring.
The main reason that I am writing this post, is because we need everyone to start praying again. Before, as you all know, the prayers and positive thoughts worked. Right before Caleb was starting to have stomach pain, he was going really well. There are many different types of bacterial meningitis and we are just hoping that he does now have the same strain as he did before. Lets all pray that he has a less dangerous strain and pray our hardest that Caleb will get through this and fight his hardest like he always has. I love you all.

Sorry things are taking a difficult turn in the road. Everyday prayers are offered- today with new resolve. During the summer I spent hours meditating at the beach, walking, etc. Praying for Caleb, all of you, all of us. Thank you for leaving the space open for us all. I was talking with Kimmy and planning a trip to pick up our hoodies and she told me Caleb is back at the hospital. So here I am again- sending healing light and energy. We are here, loving, caring , whatever comes. Jennie, take care of yourself- know we all pray with you whether on the lawn or in our hearts. ann m

My heart goes out to all of you, Jennie, and my prayers and hopes for healing and strength go with my heart. You have been through so much and it seems so wrong for this to be happening, but none of us know what is around the corner....we just have to deal with what's handed to us, and sometimes that is just too hard.
But know that we are all together in this, and looking out for the best possible outcome. Caleb has gained much strength in these past few weeks and will be better able to fight off infection. With all of our powerful prayers, we send you hope, healing, love, and peace. Take care of yourself, Jennie, Caleb needs his sweetie.
As always,with hope,

Caleb is our hero of healing!
His healing will heal all of us. Since the turn of this millennium, we have all been under trauma by a created catastrophic event that threatened our way of life.
Caleb represents the freedom of choice & free will, the sincere choice to live a life in bliss of love, gliding on the wave of happiness and freedom!
When Caleb heals, we all heal. That is why we need to pray & get the whole world to pray together for healing.
Heal, heal, heal, arrrh!

Oh my Dears, we have never stopped the prayers, concern, love for you all. Healing is an amazing thing. It is constantly in motion, responding to the ebb and flow of life. Caleb in on a healing journey, and as hard as it is to see him back at MGH, in surgery, pain, it may be what has to occur to bring about optimal health. For Caleb to find his balance, there needs to be some fine tuning. We have seen this in the past. He is strong, courageous and full of life. WE support him in his healing process, and hold you, and all his loving family in our warm and loving embrace.

In this Season of Light, we are with you in thought and prayer, and never very far away.

Please give Caleb and Sharyn, Max, Kai, Jan, our love and Best wishes for continued healing. Jennie, take care of yourself, receive our healing prayers with much affection and great Love this night.

WE remain with you all.....in thought, prayer, hope and gratitude for the progress that has been made, the strides that are being made as I write, and his complete heaing in the days to come.

Never far from thought....and Blessings to all the Blogging community that have made this such a dynamic place of healing, recovery, compassion and Love.

In Love and Gratitude,

Melinda and Mari

I hope that those of you who were on the lawn last night felt the presence of those of us who couldn't physically be there - There were 5 candles on my mantel - one for Caleb, one for Sharyn, one for Peg, one for Jan and Kai and Max, and one for Jennie - Please take care of yourself, Jennie, and see your doctor as soon as you can. Meningitis isn't something you can ignore, and if you do have it the sooner you begin treatment the better. I can't help myself - the mother in me is feeling fierce and protective this morning!

Big Love -
Susan

I agree with the person who said he is in the best place right now, where he needs to be but just before Christmas! Maybe Wellfleet could celabrate Christmas in July, just for this year, by then Caleb ought to be feeling much better.I Will be generating possitive thoughts and sending them along. Feel better.
