On the fourth of July, 2007 Caleb Potter was involved in a skateboarding accident.
He suffered serious injuries and continues to need all of our positive thoughts and prayers.
This blog is to serve as a space for updates on Caleb's journey of recovery.

Famous Fourth

There is a warmth in this day..a stillness in the air..the Leylands do not sway in the breeze, but stand tall and proud, as if to salute. Today feels like "our" day. I can only ponder the person I was in these moments before the 2007 parade as I sit with my coffee and my cat to look out over the gardens, and try to remember. She is gone...but in her place stands a woman...who today will brush her teeth..wash her face...put on her best party dress, her favorite shade of red..and walk into the streets of "Fleet" as proud and tall as those Leylands stand........and Caleb and Kai will walk together as pirates, and scare the children, and throw candy and laugh.. and at some point Caleb will pause to kiss his Grandma..he will spot Aunt Carol with a grin......shout out a " hey ya Mama" to me, and throw out the Fleet handshake to Max ....and then I will remember that it does not matter who I was before...... today... we all walk!

Happy Fourth of July my dear friends!

Happy 4th of July to you, too. Sharyn. It's a great day for the parade, isn't it? Finally, no rain!

Looking forward to seeing Yellowbeard and his crew. They're my favorite part of the parade!

I did think of you today, Sharyn. My daughter asked whatever happened to that boy who was hurt on the 4th of July. I told her he now is driving again and coming along.

I hope you had a happy day, more good memories to help diminish the bad ones.

Dearest Sharyn, Caleb, Kai and Max...Today we honor you. We Honor your bold and daring path....we Honor the strides each of you have taken to get where you are today and what that represents in countless measure....we Honor your Spirit, a Spirit we draw inspiration, comfort and awe from. And above all, we Honor the Love you share for one another, and how you have chosen to share that love with all of us these last two years, even when you thought drawing breath was next to impossible. You have chosen "life" and all it's many facets, and for that we are grateful, in oh so many ways.

From our hearts here in Boothbay Harbor we send you loving thoughts and embraces. Know that we always hold you close, and continue to hold intentions for only the best and brightest outcomes for your lives~

I remember reading Caleb's story 2 years ago. I have checked in occasionally. 2 years. Whoa.

I am glad to hear that things are moving forward and there is healing taking place.

I hope you all celebrated on July 4, Sharyn.
My "Fourth Of July" is June 13 - the day that my baby had a stroke. While such anniversaries are bittersweet, they're also a great opportunity to celebrate how far our sons have come.
While I wasn't able to make it to the parade this year, we'll be sure to go next year. Make sure Caleb throws some candy - but not too much - Daniel's way. =)

Sharyn, we were able to make the "Fleet" on the 4th, me, my hubby and three step-daughters. It was a glorious day, sipping Stella at The Juice, absorbing some sunlight and listening to small children share their pirate experiences with Caleb and Kai. My husband had his picture taken with them, and it now adds a sense of adventure to my office cubical -- it looks like an illustration from a fantastic children's book! It is always great to see the Lindsays and the Potters out and about, even if we don't always get a chance to say hello. I hope your summer continues to shine, weather-wise and in every other way.

Like all here I was with you in spirit on the 4th.

As it was a bright and glorious day here I, expect it was the same in 'fleet. With added brightness coming from pirates and crew.

Cheers to all!
