On the fourth of July, 2007 Caleb Potter was involved in a skateboarding accident.
He suffered serious injuries and continues to need all of our positive thoughts and prayers.

If in the telling of our story, we change the direction of it, the outcome of it, and the truth of it...then this is mine.
A few years shall pass and I will wake one day to a new life. Caleb will be independent and living with new friends who are challenged as he still is..but they are rich and full lives non the less. Perhaps he even has a love interest who makes him laugh and feel full inside against all bitter odds that he would even be here. Kai and Max are settled, each with the love of their lives, women who perceive their struggles and walk strongly beside them, with understanding and compassion. I even see smiles on their faces as they traverse their own destinies knowing that they are strong and capable from all the lessons that Caleb has taught. And I smile up at the stars one evening after I have tucked my grandchildren into bed, and I speak softly to Jan that all is well now, he can be peaceful and no longer afraid for us, because a woman walks among us who is now mighty in her convictions. She has faced the darkness ...and now holds the light in her trembling hands of love.

That's a great picture of the future, Sharyn, and I believe it is not an unrealistic one at all. Keep dreaming.

The stars hold many stories of wondrous things to come. In the depth of my soul I sense that you are seeing what will be true.

Peace to you and Caleb and Max and Kai on this great journey.

I believe that if you picture yourself somewhere and see yourself doing something--it will come to pass.

Dreams can become a reality, no doubt. Continue to do what you do best which I see as letting the negative thoughts slowly but surely dwindle away. You have the strength to achieve it all.

Love and best wishes,

My Dear Sharyn...You are brave and courageous and have inspired us all to greatness. As your life unfolds expect truth, beauty and goodness to guide the way and manifest that which your heart desires.

Caleb will find his way, just as you have. You, Kai and Max will be there for each other in a way never thought possible...out of the ashes....new life.

I wish you all Peace this night, and great Joy, Abundance and Awareness in the days ahead..May it be so.

My Dear Sharon,
I was in Wellfleet these past 12 days,(sans phone, computer etc...)
and not a day went by that I did not think of you. I went with a dear friend and her son. My friend's husband suffered a massive stroke at age 51 last October, and she spent a lot of time talking about how much of himself has been lost, the changes that leave her spinning and trying to understand the why's, the what-if's, the one step forward, two steps backwards and the the changed meanings of all the things she once thought were certainties. She jokes that they need to renew their vows as he is no longer the man she married (a few years ago)
I will direct her to this site because I believe that she will be able to gather many helpful insights from your posts and the lovely responses you receive.

I hope for you that the telling of your story does make it so, that all that you dream does come to be.
As always, with hope,

Sharyn, it's Joy Roller...I'm so sorry to learn about your son's accident. I heard from Andy who just found me on Facebook. I'm also so sad to find out now that your are in Wellfleet. I just returned from a week of vacation on the Cape. I would have loved to have spent some time catching up with you there. After 20 years of living coast to coast, I returned to Cleveland 5 years ago.
Next time I'm on the Cape, I'll be sure to find you.
My thoughts and prayers are with you, your son and family. All the best, Sharyn.
