Hi Caleb!

Why am I reading about your "boring little life?" Because I have vacationed in Wellfleet for about thirty of my forty years and I probably feel more at home in Wellfleet than I do living the the town where I grew up--not only because of the physical beauty and serenity of the town, but more so because of the grace and serenity of people like you, your mom and the rest of your family and friends(none of whom I've met).

I think its really cool (even though my 20 year-old thinks I'm too old to talk like this) that your mom has chosen to share with us. I think her blog may have started out as a way to keep your friends and family updated as to your progress, but she has been sooo generous in allowing the rest of us in to care about you guys and to become "computer friends." I've only posted a few times but I check in every day.

I think its even cooler to hear from you and would love to hear from you more. I got so excited to see the "from Caleb himself!" tonight!

take care and best wishes!
Liz

Helllooooo back Caleb! I can imagine your big grin as you sat typing away, surprising all of us our here in cyberspace! What a nice post to see! Thanks!
And now all grins widen after reading Settie's response!

I hope that your fingers have also been working the clay...have you been making any little fish lately?
I'll be in Fleet next weekend to check out your kiln. Get busy...maybe make some little clay pirate ornaments too?
Life won't be boring for long, as the sun is bound to shine.

Caleb, it's GREAT to hear from you! I hope you're doing well and having fun. Believe me, you have LOTS of friends out here in cyberspace.

I was in 'Fleet last weekend to open up our house for the season and it was just beautiful - Sunday night's sunset was amazing (I put a couple of pics of it on Facebook.) It must be great to be there full time this time of year.

Well, there's no way I can top Settie's greeting, so I'll just say Cheers, and hope to see you soon!

Hi Caleb -
What a fun surprise to find you writing on your mom's blog.
You have a lot of fans in the world, some of whom you've never met. Like us. We live in New York City but for 2 weeks out of every year we're "from" Wellfleet.
My boys really believe that you are a pirate, and this summer we're going to come up and introduce ourselves.
In the meantime, enjoy Spring, which is finally here.

Caleb, Hi! I just want you to know that you have gotten WAY MORE responses to your blog post than Sharyn ever gets! :)

I, too, have sumered in the Fleet as a kid and now with my own children - 10, 8 and 5. We believe that our souls live there. It is where we are at our best as people.

You need to know that there are so many of us who need a hero, a survivor, someone who rises up against all odds and kicks ass! Many of us are going through our own struggles and Sharyn has brought us together with her open heart and beautiful command of language. We do not canonize you or expect you or Sharyn to be perfect or whole. I appreciate the insights I gain into my own struggles with survivorship through the reflection of yours.

Thank you. For continuing to give so much of yourselves. If anything comes from this horrible accident it is that your family has become the lightening rod for so much positive energy in the world.

I wish you peace and love,
Risa in Needham

PS...Can I come over and visit you guys this summer? Or can we meet for a beer?

Oh Caleb, to hear your joyful voice is truly like music to my ears. We are all of one spirit here; it's all about caring and love and celebrating life. We have become like family, holding each other up when we falter, and reveling in each other's happiness when we're up. I couldn't leave this space even if I wanted to, I am drawn here by you and your amazing family. Boring? No way! Little?? My friend you are livin' LARGE in my heart!
As always, with hope,
